Columbus, Georgia - Mr. Eugene Hurey, 89, of Columbus passed on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital. A Funeral Service for Mr. Hurey will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 6, 2024 at Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church, 222 5th Street, Columbus, GA 31901. Rev. Dr. J. H. Flakes, III will be officiating. Interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL according to the Charles E. Huff"s International Funeral Home, Inc. Viewing was held from 3:00PM - 6:00PM on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at the funeral home located at 927 - 5th Avenue, Columbus.

Mr. Eugene Hurey was born on July 15, 1935 to the late Will and Elizabeth Buckner Hurey in Columbus, Georgia. He was a 1954 graduate of William H. Spencer High School, a graduate of Savannah State College and he served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Hurey furthered his career with 41 years of tenure with the United States Postal Service. Mr. Hurey loved the Lord and served as a Deacon at Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his many memories a loving wife, Essie Hurey, Columbus; two daughters, Charlene Harris (Richard), Ft. Mitchell, AL and Tanya Neely (Ronny), Union City, GA; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.
