Ms. Marisa Paz-Santiago was born on July 30, 1953 to Juan Paz and the late Minerva Candelaria in Queens, NY. Marisa was a beloved presence in the Columbus and Phenix City area, known for her kindness, generosity, and vibrant personality. As a skilled Spanish-to-English interpreter, she bridged gaps for many businesses and brought people together through her work. Beyond that, she lovingly served as a caregiver, nurturing babies, toddlers and the elderly with unwavering compassion. Marisa had a heart that seemed boundless—always putting others first and finding joy in acts of kindness, no matter how big or small.

Her community adored her, and many who knew her became more than just friends; they became family. Marisa's love for children was unmatched—she treated every child she cared for as her own, showering them with affection and protection. She had a way of lighting up a room with her expressive face that often said more than words ever could. Making new friends came effortlessly to her, as her warm and approachable nature endeared her to everyone she met.

Her family was her greatest treasure, especially her six grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Bella." She would often ask, with a smile, "Do you know what Paz means?" and proudly share that it means "peace" in Spanish—a fitting reminder of the serenity and love she brought into the lives of so many. Marisa was surrounded by care and love until God gently called her home, leaving behind a legacy of peace, joy, and unforgettable memories.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories two sons, Rafael A. Santiago, III (Helen) and Marco A. Santiago (Angie); one daughter, Raquel Costa (Eduardo); one brother, Juan A. Paz, Jr.; one sister, Sylvia Schroeder; six grandchildren, Angel Santiago, Rafael Santiago, IV, Laila Santiago, Noah Costa, Lilly Costa and Autumn Costa and a many other relatives and friends.
